Welcome to my site. I’m Stephanie Duncan, a native of Modesto, California (a great place to grow up and the hometown of George Lucas). I spent 5 wonderful years in Sacramento, where I graduated from Sac State with a degree in Communication Studies and an emphasis in Television Production. As an undergrad, I was involved in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on the CSU Sacramento campus. After graduation, I became involved with Community Bible Study, a non-denominational Bible Study of approx. 400 women & children. For two years, I led a small group of 17 women within CBS. Plus, I worked at a tv station as an audio technician for the evening news. In January of 2006, I made a move to San Diego, where I continued to work in tv. Now, I’m in Graduate School studying Instructional Communication and may one day be a college professor. Overall, I’m learning each day how to serve Jesus in my life and I desire to seek God daily and tell people about Him.
In my spare time, I can be found reading my Bible and journaling at Starbucks, doing yoga, working out, listening to ocean waves or the wind in the trees, visiting with friends, or reading. I also love to take day trips to explore God’s beautiful creation.
I’m also a pop-culture buff, who loves to go to the movies, watch tv, and read magazines to gain more knowledge in that area. Other things I enjoy are board games, playing pool, Rock Band and Guitar Hero, iced tea, smores (well, anything with chocolate), stargazing and foggy days. When I grow up, all I know is that I want to be happy in whatever career I’m in and want to continue to gain more knowledge about God and His Word.
In the summer of 2001, I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Cairo, Egypt through InterVarsity. Our group lived within the city for approx. 3 1/2 weeks and worked among the urban poor of Cairo. I worked in a garbage village called Mokatum at the Sisters of Charity Orphanage. While there, I co-taught English to the children who lived in the village. My experience in Cairo is one I’ll never forget. It changed my outlook on how to live the Christian life. The Christians of Cairo are inundated with the Muslim religion, but they continue to worship Jesus Christ even in spite of persecution. My most recent excursion abroad was to England and Scotland in June of 2005. I had a wonderful time enjoying the gorgeous scenery and would definitely like to return.
